TECUMSEH– A Nebraska prison inmate has been sentenced in connection with an assault of a worker at the Tecumseh State Prison.

Johnson County District Court Judge Rick Schreiner Monday sentenced inmate Matthew Pokorny to 5 to 10 years in prison on a count of Second-Degree Assault.

Johnson County Attorney Benjamin Beethe says on July 7th, 2022, Pokorny assaulted a TSCI caseworker. The sentence was ordered to be served consecutively to other sentences Pokorny is currently serving.

The Nebraska Department of Corrections and the Johnson County Attorney’s Office investigated the matter.

Pokorny was serving a 20-year-20 month to 38 year prison term for two assault convictions, assault of a confined person, terroristic threats, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony and cruelty to animals.  The convictions arose from Douglas and Lancaster Counties.
