LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A 47-year-old woman has been sentenced to spend up to 10 years in prison after allowing and encouraging someone who was sexually abusing her daughter. The woman was sentenced on Thursday in Lancaster County District Court.

According to court documents, 25-year-old Joseph Hochstein was arrested in 2020 for sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl. He was sentenced to five years, but in 2022 he was granted a work release, allowing him to work in the community. Within a month, Hochstein was already messaging that woman, asking to take the 12-year-old to a different state to marry her.

Court documents said she allowed him to pursue the teen, even texting him to “do what’s in your heart.” She also received a $50 payment from Hochstein after a sexual encounter.

The mother was sentenced to five to 10 years in prison on Thursday for accessory to a felony. In September, Hochstein was sentenced for 15-20 years for attempted first-degree sexual assault.
