Karen V. Zimmerman

Karen V. Zimmerman, 83, of Beatrice died Tuesday afternoon December 5, 2023 at the Beatrice Community Hospital. She was born on September 16, 1940 in Beatrice to Henry and Lena (Schuster) Parde. Karen graduated from Filley High School in 1958. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell. On April 26, 1959 she married Orlalee M. Zimmerman at Zion Lutheran Church. They lived and farmed northwest of Beatrice for 50 years until moving to Beatrice in 2009. Together they were active members of St. Paul’s (Soap Creek) Lutheran Church of rural DeWitt and a former member, choir member, teacher, and youth sponsor at Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Beatrice. Karen was an officer of the Blue Valley Pork Producers. She enjoyed years of 4-H extension, bowling league, card parties and working for Martin Lutheran Home. Most of all she loved her family and being there to cheer on every grandchild in their various interests.
Survivors include her three sons, Jeffery (Darcy) Zimmerman of DeWitt, Brian (Tammy) Zimmerman of Beatrice and Darin Zimmerman of Omaha; one daughter, Denise Jensen of Lincoln; eight grandchildren, Jamie Hansher, Jessica (Sydney) Shepler, Jason (Taylor) Zimmerman, Korene Krzycki, Austin (Teri Ann) Zimmerman, Shelby (Clint) Watson, Devin (Olivia) Jensen and Collin Jensen; ten great-grandchildren, Rylee, Halsey, Jordan, Rylee, Lathan, Kade, Haylee, Jaxtyn, Audrey and Kolby; sisters, Ann (Henry) Lenners of Beatrice and Arlyss (Denny) Corrigan of Nebraska City; sisters-in-law, Velva Parde of Oklahoma City, OK and Karen (Ted) Jurgens of Pickrell; brother-in-law, Darryl Baker of Beatrice; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Lena Parde; her husband, Orlalee, who died on November 29, 2016; brother, Harlan Parde; parents-in-law, John and Lena Zimmerman; sister-in-law, Gloria Baker; brother-in-law, Richard Zimmerman.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at St. Paul’s (Soap Creek) Lutheran Church of DeWitt with Pastor Myron Meyer officiating. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. on Saturday at the church. Burial will be at the Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home on Friday from noon until 8:00 P.M.
