Gage County law officers arrest suspect following Barneston search

BEATRICE – A search warrant served by county law officers just before the Thanksgiving holiday, resulted in the arrest of a Barneston man.
Gage County law officers served the warrant at 7:10 a.m., Wednesday, at a home along Second Street in Barneston. Officers arrested 39-year-old Heath Genrich, on suspicion of drug possession and possession of a deadly weapon during commission of a felony.
The search warrant had been issued as part of a disturbing the peace investigation and authorities said officials were looking for firearms and related accessories. Law officers said during the search, they found white residue which field-tested as suspected methamphetamine.
Officers said they also located eleven firearms…..which included two shotguns, six rifled and three handguns. Authorities said most were loaded with ammunition. Ten of the firearms were found in a firearm safe in Genrich’s living room. A handgun was located between a mattress and box springs in a bedroom.
