Joyce Deanne (Cohee) Kisling

Joyce Deanne (nee Cohee) Kisling was born on December 21, 1936 to Wilma Amalie Helena (nee Von Seggern) and Leonard J Cohee in Scribner, NE and died on March 10, 2025 in Greeley, CO. She was the second of four children and spent much of her childhood with her brothers Curtis, Gary and Kirby in Greybull, WY and Scribner, NE. The family later moved to Casper, WY during her high school years. Joyce met Roger Kisling of Diller, NE, when she was 15-years-old while babysitting for her future sister and brother-in-law, Ted and Joreen Moehring. They were married on January 22, 1955 by the Rev. Theodore Moehring in Casper.
Joyce and Roger farmed outside of Diller for more than 40 years. Together they had four children and built the farming operation that included row crops, finishing hogs, raising cattle and a small dairy herd. She was active in the community and church while raising their children. Shortly before they retired from farming, she started working for MOSAIC and continued for 15 years. They moved to Beatrice in 1999. Joyce moved to Greeley, CO in 2014.
In 1976, Joyce became interested in quilting and it became a passion. She crafted dozens of quilts for her family over the years and meticulously hand stitched each one. Always an avid reader and dyed-in-the-wool Democrat, Joyce followed local and national politics all her life and never missed the opportunity to question authority. She was quick to laugh and had a wicked sense of humor which came out at unexpected times. Her children learned early on that when in trouble, the quickest route to forgiveness was to make her laugh, and they used the tactic often.
Joyce is survived by three children; Donald (Betsy) of Jenks, OK; Douglas (Carla) of Sand Springs, OK; Cheryl (Kerry Byers) of Greeley, CO; and daughter-in-law Terry of Lincoln, NE; eight grandchildren and seven spouses/significant others, 11 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, in-laws Joreen Moehring and John and Twila Kisling; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, her son Kent and her great grandson Trenton.
