BEATRICE, Neb - A yearly tradition took place yet again on Friday morning at the Beatrice High School.

BHS head its annual Veterans Day Ceremony in the Hevelone Center, with appearances made by area veterans, the Beatrice American Legion, and area veteran riders.

The guest speaker was Robert Rector, a Beatrice native who served around the country and world as a pilot. He gave his story of service, while also adding a little history to Veterans Day’s importance.

“This year, the thee for Veterans Day is service,” Rector said. “Veterans are proud of their service in defending our nation, while honor reflects our military value, answering the call to duty. It’s a distinct honor to defend out way of life and the constitution of the United States of America.”

The day began with a colors presentation and included a number of military hymn performances by BHS students. Rector’s closing message was for students, who may be future veterans, to take the honor with pride, while also giving a nod to the veterans in attendance.

“To end today, to all the Veterans, thank you for your service,” Rector said.
