FAIRBURY, Neb. -- The Fairbury Municipal Airport is hosting Young Eagle airplane rides on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event is free and anybody from the age of eight to 17-years-old can come, with permission from a parent or legal guardian.

Participants will join pilots in the cockpit and take a fly around the city of Fairbury.

Another airplane will also be on the ramp for students and parents to see up close and tour the cockpit.

“People from ages 8 to 17, interested in the aviation field,” said Jeff Engels, Airplane Pilot. “We basically give them an airplane ride over the city of Fairbury. Many facets of aviation, different things you can do in aviation other than being a pilot. There’s mechanics, managing airports, building the airports and all of this stuff is involved. We just need to get younger people involved and, hopefully, inspired by aviation.”

Any student who is interested in aviation and airplanes are welcome to attend the event.
