BEATRICE – At least two persons had injuries from a collision of sport utility vehicles south of Beatrice Monday….the third such collision in that area in the past 45 days.

The collision occurred at the intersection of U.S. Highway 77 and Lilac Road, just prior to six p.m. One of the vehicles ended up down an embankment, in the east ditch off the highway….while the other was on Lilac road, just west of the intersection.

Gage County Sheriff’s deputies and two Beatrice Fire and Rescue ambulances went to the scene, along with Beatrice Rural Fire.  Both drivers were out of their vehicles and appeared responsive at the scene.

One of them was treated at the scene, while one driver was transported to Beatrice Community Hospital.

Details about what caused the accident and the direction of travel of both vehicles were not immediately known.   Traffic was directed through the scene on U.S. 77 while emergency personnel were on the scene.
