As the two-day girls district wrestling tournaments come to a close across the state, the field for the girls state championships is now in focus.

In Ol' Red 99.5 country, Beatrice, Crete and Johnson County Central (JCC) are sending multiple wrestlers to the state tournament later this month in February. Crete leads the way with six state qualifiers, JCC is sending three wrestlers to Omaha and a pair of Beatrice wrestlers made it to state.

Fairbury and Fillmore Central are also sending wrestlers to Omaha. Each of their wrestlers qualified through claiming district championships.

Crete also had one girls district champion.

The top four finishers at the district tournaments in each weight class are moving on to Omaha.

Fairbury's state qualifier is Makena Schramm. The senior pinned Annsley Vernon of York in 58 seconds to claim a district championship at 190 pounds. She is an undefeated 35-0 in matches this year as she heads to Omaha.

Schramm is back at state for a second-consecutive season after finishing as a runner-up last year at 185 pounds.

Sarah Turner from Fillmore Central won a 115-pound district title. The freshman won via fall over Harvard's Maria Perez in 1:52 to make her first trip to the state tournament.

Sophomore Trinity Williamson claimed a district championship for Crete at 125 pounds, pinning Nebraska City's Jocelyn Davis in 1:56 in the title match.

This will be Williamson's first time at state.
