LINCOLN, Neb. -- A vehicle that was stolen was involved in both a hit-and-run and a car crash in Lincoln.

The Lincoln Police Department said officers were sent to 19th and O St. on Sunday at 8:15 a.m. for a reported hit-and-run that originally happened at 11th and O St. 

Officers said they found out the vehicle the suspect was driving was a 2019 Hyundai Tuscon, valued at $24,000. They contacted the registered owner of the vehicle and were told the vehicle was reportedly stolen from the area of 18th and A St. The remote keyfob was said to be left inside of the vehicle.

According to authorities, LPD officers were still investigating the hit-and-un so the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office sent officers to 27th and Arbor Road for a single vehicle crash that was reported.

Officials said they realized the vehicle involved in the single car crash was the same as the hit-and-run incident. The driver of the vehicle was 37-year-old Shawn Luginbill and 35-year-old Bashir Farah was in the passenger seat.

LPD said Luginbill and Farah had minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital. 

Luginbill was arrested for theft by receiving stolen property and cited/released for leave scene of accident, willful reckless driving and careless driving.

Farah was arrested for theft by receiving stolen property.
