LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Lincoln Police Department arrested an 18-year-old woman in connection to a fatal crash in August.

LPD said 18-year-old Alexis Kelly, of Lincoln, was arrested Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m. The arrest was made for a fatal car accident that killed a man on Aug. 29 at N 35th St. and Cornhusker Highway.

Officers said Kelly was reportedly driving the vehicle on the day of the accident. She was traveling eastbound on Cornhusker Highway and turning northbound onto N 35th St. when Kelly's vehicle was struck by a westbound motorcycle.

According to authorities, the motorcyclist was 28-year-old Pierce White, of Lincoln, and he died at the scene. Officers reportedly noticed sings of impairment with Kelly and conducted a Drug Recognition Exam.

LPD said the presence of marijuana was later confirmed from toxicology reports for Kelly and she was arrested for felony motor vehicle homicide-DUI.
