BEATRICE - A southeast Nebraska town is in the spotlight on one of America's biggest television networks.
HBO debuted the first episode of "Mind Over Murder", a six episode documentary featuring the Beatrice six murders. The incident happened back in 1985 when six individuals were convicted of murdering 68-year-old grandmother Helen Wilson in Beatrice. Although five originally confessed to the crime, the “Beatrice Six” were exonerated by DNA evidence in 2009, bringing pain to Helen's family.
Filmmakers track the case through in-depth research, investigation, exoneration, and navigate differences in opinion.
The series is directed by Nanfu Wang and produced by Vox Media Studio.
