HASTINGS, NE — One of southeast Nebraska’s top senior high school football players is getting ready to represent his school for the final time.

Brevin Damrow of Tri County will suit up for the East Team in Saturday’s Sertoma 8-Man All-Star Classic in Hastings. His coach, Brett Scheiding, is an assistant for the East and informed his player he made the cut.

“I was walking down the hall and coach kind of came up to me and grabbed me for a second and told me about it," Damrow said. "I just got real excited and it means a lot to be here.”

Damrow says the level of competition is high during practices.

“It’s crazy because obviously everyone here is just the best of the best," Damrow said. "It’s real fun to see how athletic and talented everyone here is.”

Damrow helped Tri County go from two wins his freshman year to three straight trips to state, including an appearance in the semis his junior season. He’ll be playing offensive line at Concordia in the fall, but right now is focused on maximizing the moment.

“I think just the experience, having fun, meeting new people," Damrow said. "Obviously, a win on Saturday would be fun, but no, just the experience and getting to meet and know everyone is the real goal.”

It might not all be about the result, but Damrow says he’s confident in his team, especially at the line of scrimmage.

“We’re a salty group. We’re not as big-looking as some of the kids on the West but I don’t think that’ll be a problem,” Damrow said.

The game kicks off at 6:00 on Saturday at Adams Central. You can listen via our partner station 98.9 The Vibe.
