Three arrests and several charges after narcotics investigation follow-up

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Authorities in the metro area arrested multiple people for controlled substance possession.
The Lincoln Police Department said that Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., officers with the Lincoln-Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force were following up on a narcotics investigation in the 1800 block of North 64th.
Officials said that when they arrived they saw three people leave the residence in a vehicle.
LPD officers said that they spoke with the three in a parking lot at 56 and Holdrege Street a little while later.
Authorities said that as officers got out of their vehicle to make contact, 40-year-old Daniel Drews fled on foot discarding a backpack that he had been carrying.
According to officials, Drews was taken into custody moments later, and at this time officers found a total of 33 grams of methamphetamine, 240 grams of marijuana, a fixed blade knife and a .45 caliber handgun.
LPD said that the handgun was found in the backpack that Drews had discarded.
Drews was lodged in jail for possession with intent to deliver, possession of a firearm during a felony drug violation, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, possession of money while violating stature 28-416.
LPD said that the driver of the vehicle was 39-year-old Doctrya West and the other passenger was 42-year-old Justin Chilcott. Both West and Chilcott were lodged in jail for possession of a controlled substance.
