Rural Pickrell man arrested on weapon and drug allegations
Gage County law officers execute search warrant on rural home, pickup
BEATRICE – Gage County law officers have arrested a rural Pickrell man on drug and weapons charges. Deputies were serving a search warrant Thursday just after 8:30 a.m., on a residence and pickup along West Pickrell Road…about six miles west of Pickrell.
Authorities were searching for a firearm, ammunition and drugs. Officers say they located a suspect, identified as Nicholas Buss, in Beatrice. He was contacted by law officers after he had driven away from his pickup, in a different vehicle. When contacted, Buss was searched and his pickup was subsequently searched as part of the warrant. Authorities found suspected methamphetamine residue on a glass light bulb and two rounds of nine-millimeter ammunition in the pickup bed.
Gage County law officers said a search of the residence recovered a nine-millimeter handgun with one round in the chamber. Law officers found four additional magazines loaded with ammunition, and a plastic baggie with numerous rounds. Deputies also found a double-edged knife with a blade length of five-and-a-half inches.
Buss is currently prohibited from possessing firearms because of the existence of an active domestic abuse protection order. He’s also prohibited from possessing knives with a blade length of over three-and-a-half inches.
During the search, law officers also recovered pills identified as cyclobenzaprine hydrochloride…described as a legend drug.
Buss was arrested on two counts of possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a legend drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.
