Former six-term Beatrice City Councilman passes away

BEATRICE – A Beatrice man who served what may be a record amount of time as a Beatrice City Councilman, has died.
David “Pede” Catlin passed away Monday, at age 65.
Catlin served on the Beatrice City Council as Fourth Ward representative from 1996 to December of 2020….a total of six terms. He twice served as President of the Council.
When he departed the council in December of 2020, Catlin made it a point to pay tribute to City and Board of Public Works employees who he said make a councilman’s job easier. Catlin worked with 24 different council members, four Mayors, three City Administrators, three Fire Chiefs and six City Attorneys, among others.
He also told colleagues at that time to not forget the people who gave you their vote, and the opportunity to be their voice.
Catlin formerly owned Cats Auto Supply and he and his wife Lorraine own the Family and Friends Event Center in west Beatrice.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, at 10 a.m., at the Westside Baptist Church in Beatrice.
