BEATRICE – Two men have been arrested on suspicion of being involved in a conspiracy to commit murder.

Gage County Sheriff Millard Gustafson says deputies conducted an investigation in the Blue Springs area, obtaining evidence that indicated a man and his father had allegedly been plotting to kill or have killed….a family member...another adult from Blue Springs and a male juvenile. Chief Deputy Doug Klaus said the investigation had been going on for several weeks.

"This has probably stemmed back months...we'll say. We would get bits and pieces of information and complaints that we've looked at, but really didn't have additional information to follow through on it, to make more of a solid case or to have probable cause to act further on it. Slowly, some of this information has come in that we furthered along with some different interviews and information that we have come upon. That has led to the point of where we're at, today."

Gustafson says 40-year-old Derrie Seeman and 71-year-old William Seeman Jr. were arrested at their home in the village of Liberty, Thursday morning. Klaus said the arrests were made, without incident.

"We didn't overwhelm the situation...we just approached it very low-keyed, if you will, with two deputies to start....and then when we effected the arrests, then we brought more people in for transports and things of that nature."

Both men were jailed on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder. The intended victim was notified of the arrests by the Beatrice-Gage County Crime Victim Advocate’s Office. William Seeman Jr.’s appearance bond was set at $3 million in Gage County Court, Friday morning. Bond for Derrie Seeman has not yet, been set.

Gustafson says the investigation is continuing.
