Three people killed in separate accidents

BEATRICE – A motorcyclist was killed in a northeast Kansas accident, early Saturday morning.  The Kansas Highway Patrol said the accident happened along U.S. Highway 75, in Brown County.

50-year-old Thomas Sherwood Jackson II, was riding south on the highway when his motorcycle went off the east side of the highway, throwing Jackson from the bike.  Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene.  The KHP was still investigating the exact time of the accident.

Meanwhile, two occupants of a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer were killed in a one-vehicle fiery accident in Riley County, Kansas, at around one a.m., Sunday.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reports the vehicle driven by 17-year-old Manhattan, Kansas female was eastbound on Kansas Highway 18, when it went out-of-control and went into the south ditch, hitting a concrete bridge pillar and catching fire.  Two occupants, 14-year-old Kenni Cantu of Manhattan and 14-year-old Gaysha Alfred of Manhattan, died in the accident. 

The KHP says the driver and two other passengers, a 13-year-old female and a 14-year-old male, all of Manhattan were taken with injuries to hospitals in Manhattan and Kansas City.

The driver was wearing a safety restraint, while only one of the four passengers were using restraints.
