BEATRICE – One person was injured in a highway collision at a curve Sunday, about seven miles south of Beatrice.

The accident happened when a vehicle pulled onto U.S. Highway 77 from Nebraska Highway 112, colliding with a southbound vehicle traveling on 77.  The SUV pulling onto U.S. 77 was driven by 55-year-old Griselda Valerio-Rojas of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.   The southbound car was driven by 47-year-old Melinda Bowman, of Blue Springs.

Bowman was taken to Beatrice Community Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.  Valerio-Rojas declined medical treatment.  Law officers cited her for failure to yield.

Wymore and Blue Springs firefighters and Wymore rescue personnel responded to the scene of the accident, which happened just after two p.m. 

The collision blocked U.S. Highway 77 for several minutes and traffic was diverted around the area onto Nebraska 112.
