LINCOLN - The co-op between Osceola and High Plains was short but certainly very sweet.

Osceola/High Plains held off a second half rally to defeat Burwell 40-34 in the Class D1 State Championship on Monday.

The Stormdogs jumped out to a commanding 40-14 first half lead thanks to four Dylan Soule touchdowns, but Burwell stormed back after the break.

The Longhorns scored 20 unanswered points and had the ball, trailing by six, with under two minutes to play. However, a fifth Burwell fumble, recovered by Carter Boden, allowed the Stormdogs to run out the clock.

This was the second and final year of the co-op between Osceola and High Plains.

OSCEOLA/HIGH PLAINS (11-2) 20 20 0 0 - 40
