Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce president and CEO to step down
KEARNEY, Neb. —The president and CEO of the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce announced he will step down after eight years in the role.
Derek Rusher began leading the Chamber in 2018. During his tenure, the organization achieved important milestones including its-first-ever 5-star accreditation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, a distinction held by only the top chambers in the nation.
"After much prayer, reflection, and discussion, I have made the decision to step down as President and CEO of the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce. I have accepted the opportunity to serve as Chief Executive Officer of Team Concepts, where I will be working full time to help businesses and teams build strong, life-giving cultures." Rusher Said.
Under his leadership Rusher guided Kearney through major transitions, from a new complex move to the challenges of the 2019 floods and the 2020 pandemic.
The chamber said that Rusher will serve until February to ensure a smooth transition.
The Board will begin a national search for a new President and CEO immediately.
