STERLING, Colo. — Two people were arrested Friday night after a traffic stop in Sterling led to the seizure of methamphetamine, a handgun and drug paraphernalia, according to the Sterling Police Department.

Police said officers conducted a late-night traffic stop on Highway 138 and made proactive contact with two vehicles. During the encounter, officers discovered more than 35 grams of methamphetamine, along with a handgun and drug paraphernalia.

Both occupants were taken into custody and booked into jail. Their identities and potential charges were not immediately released.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit assisted at the scene, police said.

The Sterling Police Department said the seizure was related to an earlier contact and resulted in drugs and a firearm being removed from the community. The investigation remains ongoing.
