Concrete mixer truck fire causes damage at Scottsbluff ready-mix yard
SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. — A concrete mixer truck was heavily damaged by fire Friday morning at the Simon’s Ready Mix yard in Scottsbluff, according to the Scottsbluff Fire Department.
Fire crews were dispatched around 9:30 a.m. after the Scotts Bluff County Communications Center received a 911 call reporting the truck on fire. Engine One, Engine Three and Scottsbluff Two responded to the scene.
First-arriving units reached the yard approximately four minutes after being paged and were able to bring the fire under control and extinguish it within several minutes of arrival, fire officials said.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
Fire officials said the truck sustained substantial damage. An initial investigation determined the fire originated in the cab of the truck and extended into the engine compartment. The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
