BHS Tips Off Winter Sports Season

The winter sports season is officially underway. The Beatrice High School winter sports teams started this past Monday preparing for the upcoming season. B-H-S Activities Director Cale Kaiser is encouraging fans to attend the B-H-S Winter Sports Tip-off event this Friday evening at the O-Zone.
“We are going to have Chick-Fil-A food truck and Court Street Nutrition as some of our vendors and then we will have our senior poster signing and recognition of all of our different activities and some performances in the gym.”
Speaking on KWBE's Focus On Education program on Tuesday Kaiser says it’s always good to see students participating in different activities outside the classroom as research has shown it helps the students with their overall success in school.
“We run the numbers every year for students involved in activities and if they are involved in at least one activity their GPA is generally one point higher than those who are not. It provides a good motivation for kids to make sure their grades are above that failing mark.”
In addition to the Winter Kick-Off this Friday Kaiser says the public will get a sneak peak at the basketball teams next Tuesday before the actual season begins.
“We have our opening basketball jamboree on the 25th and that will be at the O=Zone and we will have the varsity boys and varsity girls taking on Wilber-Clatonia.”
