Marlene Ruth Busboom, age 89, of Adams, passed away peacefully Thursday night, November 13, 2025, at Gold Crest Retirement Center in Adams.  She was born on January 11, 1936, in Beatrice to Martin and Engelina (Tholen) DeBuhr.  Marlene graduated from Filley High School in 1953.  On August 22, 1954, she married Gerald Busboom. They were blessed with five children and she was the proud grandmother of nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. After Marlene and Gerald were married they lived in rural Cortland on a farm. She was a woman of many talents and enjoyed sewing, always had a huge garden, loved to bake, and go bowling with friends. Her dinner rolls were a family favorite! There were many summer days when Marlene could be found on the riding lawnmower.  Marlene rarely missed her children’s activities and always encouraged them to do their best. Her philosophy carried over to her grandchildren and it was her greatest joy to watch them participate in sports and other activities. Marlene loved to travel and often traveled with family and friends.  She would greet everyone with a smile and she leaves behind a special legacy. Her faith was important to her, and she was involved in many activities at Christ Lutheran Church in rural Pickrell.  After Gerald’s death, Marlene worked at the Pickrell Vet Clinic for many years.

Survivors include her children, Andrea (Jim) Kvasnicka of Lincoln, Eugene (Bonnie) Busboom of Adams, and Colette Little of Sterling; son-in-law, Donald Baehr of Wymore; grandchildren, Jon (Terri) Baehr, Kyle Kvasnicka, Michelle (Jason) Denker, Melissa James, Dani (Lane) Busboom Kelly, Kurt (Dedra) Little, Matthew (Keli) Baehr, and Ryan (Karli) Busboom; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Darvin (Ladonna) DeBuhr; sister-in-law, Anora Schoen; brothers-in-law, Ronald (Verla) Busboom and Kenneth Miller; nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Busboom, who died on March 4, 1990; daughters, Gloria Busboom and Lynette Baehr; son-in-law, Brian Little; grandson, Paul Baehr; parents, Martin and Lena DeBuhr; brothers, Roger (Shirleen) DeBuhr and Daylen DeBuhr; parents-in-law, Ehme and Jennie Busboom; brother-in-law, Robert Schoen; sisters-in-law, Rosie Miller and Betty (Gerald) Buss.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, November 21, 2025, at the Christ Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell with Pastor Michael Williams and Chaplain Sharon Schuster officiating.  Private inurnment of the cremains will take place prior to the service at the Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery.  Cremation has taken place and there will be no viewing.  A book for signatures will be available at the Fox Funeral Home in Adams on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, from noon until 8:00 P.M. with the family greeting friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the family’s choice.  www.foxfuneralhome.net   Arrangements entrusted to Fox Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Adams.
