WYMORE, Neb. - Fire fighters battled heat and humidity in a Tuesday evening fire in southeast Nebraska.

Just before 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, Wymore Volunteer Fire responded to a house fire in the 300 block of N. 5th street. Fire Chief Mark Meints says, upon arrival, firefighters observed flames coming from the back door, in the southeast corner of the residence.

The fire then grew into the attic, forcing firefighters to cut holes in the roof.

Meints says the the hot and humid conditions made fighting the flames difficult and a few firefighters became overheated.

The Nebraska State Fire Marshall is investigating the scene, but preliminary investigations show the cause to be electrical

Meints says no occupants were inside the house at the time of the fire, but two dogs were safely removed.

25 firefighters from Wymore, Blue Springs, and Barneston responded to the scene.
