Grace Huttenmaier, 103, of Beatrice passed away Friday morning, March 21, 2025 at the Homestead House in Beatrice. She was born on August 13, 1921 at rural Pickrell to Paul and Gebka (Busboom) Baehr. Grace grew up on a farm near Adams and attended country school.  On November 24, 1940 she married Elmer Huttenmaier at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell.  They lived and farmed near Filley before moving into Beatrice in 1990. She worked at the P.E.O. Home in Beatrice for several years.  She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of rural Beatrice where she was in the Ladies Circle, was a former Sunday School teacher, and made blanket tops for World Relief. She was a former member of Contented Gals Extension Club.  Grace enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, domino’s, doing puzzles, quilting, mowing and working in her yard, crafts, sewing, and bowling. She was a fan of the Atlanta Braves and Kansas City Royals baseball.  The family would like to thank Homestead House and Cottonwood Hospice for the special care they provided Grace. 

            Survivors include three sons, Gary (Shirley) Huttenmaier of Beatrice, Daniel (Teresa) Huttenmaier of Topeka, KS, and Greg (Carla) Huttenmaier of Tulsa, OK; two daughters, Sandy Lyons and Doris Little both of Beatrice; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, who died on May 5, 1997; daughter, Phyllis; grandson, Curtis Huttenmaier; parents, Paul and Gebka Baehr; seven brothers, John (Grace) Baehr, Henry (Geske) Baehr, William (Emma) Baehr, Thees (Ethel) Baehr, Arnold (Lena) Baehr, Ernest (Irene) Baehr, and Alfred (Jean) Baehr; four sisters, Bertha (Chris) Meints, Teda (Hubert) Rathe, Hattie Schuster, and Emma Baehr; parents-in-law, Charles and Mary (Zimmerman) Huttenmaier; sister-in-law, Francis Huttenmaier.

 

            Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of rural Beatrice with Pastor Chuck Bentjen officiating. Burial will be at the Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery of rural Beatrice.  A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. on Wednesday at the church.  A memorial has been established to the family’s choice with Darlene Evers and Christena Hofeling in charge.  The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home on Tuesday from noon until 8:00 P.M.  The family will greet relatives and friends on Tuesday from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home.   www.foxfuneralhome.net   Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice is in charge of the arrangements.
