BEATRICE – Norris Public Power District officials say some customers may be without power for days, based on the damage done by that winter storm that struck Nebraska, Wednesday.

Norris Spokesperson Kenzie Brueggeman said as of this morning (8:15 a.m.), the district continues to have over 11,000 customers without power, throughout the six-county Norris territory.

Crews are addressing over 250 broken power poles and several downed power lines.  Norris will be getting assistance from other public power districts to assist in restoring electricity.

Norris officials remind customers to stay away from downed power lines, and always assume a line could still be energized. Persons who notice a downed line can call the district, at 1-800-858-4707.

The number of customers without power as of around 8 a.m., Thursday, represents about 40 percent of total customers in Saline, Seward, Lancaster, Gage, Jefferson and Thayer Counties.
