Ivan H. Bartels, born August 6, 1938, in Marshall County, Kansas, passed away on March 15, 2025. Known for his reliable and supportive nature, Ivan dedicated his life to his faith, family, and service to his community. He was a man of many trades, serving as a farmer, rural mail carrier, and field reporter for MS CO ASCP. An active member of the Immanuel Stateline Lutheran Church, Ivan taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and served on the church board. He exemplified the verse from Proverbs 22:6, “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” This was evident in his dedication to teaching Sunday School and leading 4-H and RY (Rural Youth).

Ivan was a generous man who enjoyed gardening, hunting, baking pies, and lending a helping hand to those around him. He delighted in time spent with his grandchildren, engaging in their interests with the same enthusiasm they did. He demonstrated his commitment to his community through his involvement with organizations such as the Marysville Legion, Barneston Legion, Marshall County Fair Board, Farm Bureau Board, and Farmer's Co-op Board.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Bartels, whom he married on October 6, 1968, at Sheridan Lutheran Church in Lincoln. Ivan's legacy continues on through his children; Kirsten (Rob) Smith of Denton, Jeff (Gina) Bartels of Marysville, and Karla Bartels (Neal Mittan) of Wymore; his grandchildren, Kaitlin and Dylan Smith, Samantha Bartels (fiancée, Ayden), and Christopher Bartels; and sister, Dorothy Erdmann; sisters-in-law, Rita Corbett, and Joann (Ron) Bogus; many nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Elsie Bartels; siblings, LaVerne Bartels, Viola Kannarr, Minnie Purtek, Arthur Bartels, Richard Bartels, Juanita Bartels; and his daughter, Lenna Kay Bartels.
