Two-term Nebraska lawmaker passes away

BEATRICE – A former Nebraska State Senator passed away at his home, Friday. George “Bill" Burrows of Adams, was 94.
Burrows served as a state lawmaker in District 30 for two terms, from 1974 to 1982. He was a graduate of Adams High School and attended Nebraska Wesleyan, later receiving a degree from the University of Nebraska Lincoln in 1953.
Burrows served in the U.S. Army…with a 16-month stint in Korea. A local farmer, Burrows was active in agriculture-related organizations including the Farmers Home Administration and Nebraska FSA. He was also a veterinary ag instructor.
Burrows is survived by his wife Norma, two sons and a daughter along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life service with military honors will be held Thursday at 11 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Adams.
