John D. Paquette

John D. Paquette, 57, of Beatrice passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, January 22, 2025, at Bryan East Medical Center in Lincoln. He entered the world in a big way, literally, at 12 pounds and 6 ounces on May 9, 1967 in Beatrice, the proud son of Dr. Ernest and Anne (Potter) Paquette. John graduated from Beatrice High School in 1985. He was a big equipment operator by trade and a helper by heart. With an incredible passion for heavy equipment and tools, he made his mark on some remarkable projects, working on construction teams for the runway at Denver International Airport, a 17-mile conveyor belt in the Colorado mountains, and even the Gorilla house at Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo. But John’s true passion was lending a hand to anyone in need. Whether clearing fallen trees after a storm, plowing snow, or tackling a neighbor's repair project, he found joy in serving others. Later in life, John answered another calling by earning his degree from SCC and working as a comfort care LPN, offering compassion and care to both nursing home and home-bound patients. John’s life was anchored by his deep faith in the Lord, and he shared this faith generously. Even in tough times, he reminded others of God’s grace, and the hope found in Jesus. One of his favorite scriptures, Philippians 4:6-8, was a guiding light in his life and a message of comfort on his final day. When John wasn’t working or helping others, you could find him at Beatrice Speedway or Eagle Raceway, cheering on the races. Family gatherings were some of his favorite times, filled with laughter, gratitude, and love. Always quick witted, John was able to bring a smile and laughter to any room and any situation.
John is survived by his mother, Anne Paquette; brother, Jerry (Michelle) Paquette; sisters, Kim (Chris) Witulski and Lisa (Ramon) Guerra; nieces and nephews, Katelyn (Nate) Redman, Allison (Jake) Spencer, Jacob (Allie) Weimer, Ethan Weimer, Andrew, Preston and Kiera Paquette, Nomar Guerra (fiancé Leah Snitily), Ella Guerra, and Leo Guerra; many great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Ernest Paquette, who died on December 16, 2010 and his grandparents.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, January 27, 2025, at the First Christian Church (DOC) of Beatrice with Pastor Jeff Collins officiating. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. on Monday in the church parlor. Interment will be at the Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice. The body will lie in state on Sunday from noon until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family will greet relatives and friends on Sunday from 2:30 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Community Assistance Program at the First Christian Church, continuing John’s legacy of helping those in need. Arrangements are entrusted to Fox Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Beatrice.
John’s laugh, faith, and generosity will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
