UNION – Multiple fire departments responded Wednesday afternoon to a structure fire along Highway 75 south of Union.

Nehawka firefighters arrived to find a large machine shed on fire. Plattsmouth fire provided a pumper and Nebraska City rural fire provided a tanker. Firefighters from Avoca and Murray also responded.

The fire to the structure was primarily under control about two and a half hours after Cass County Medics were asked to respond at 1:26 p.m. Firefighters were attempting to access contents of the building to extinguish the remaining fire.

County records say a nearby house is owned by Helen Soley. The surrounding farm land is owned by the Paul & John & Anton & Doris Wirth Foundation.
