Sidney Squads Sweep Hamburg in Iowa Road Doubleheader Tuesday Night
HAMBURG, IA - The Sidney basketball teams rode out of Hamburg with a double-header sweep on Tuesday night, as heard on B103. The Sidney ladies dominated in a 65-10 final, while the boys bounced to a 69-21 victory.
In the opener, Hamburg went just 1/8 at the free throw line, as Keagan Matheson led the host Wildcats with five points. The Cowgirls hit 3/4 from the stripe. Ava Osborn was in top form with 26 points and nine steals, while freshman Averie Buttercase tossed in a dozen. Sidney is now 4-4 on the season, while Hamburg sits at 0-8.
In the guys' contest, Keith Thompson dropped in nine for the Wildcats, as the team went 0/4 at the FT line & shot 21% from the field. The Cowboys got 16 points from Braedon Godfread, 12 each from Michael Hensley, and ten each from Andreas Buttry & Aiden Stenzel. Sidney shot 45% overall & went 9/12 at the flat line.
Sidney moved to 6-2 with the triumph, while Hamburg fell to 0-7.
Next on the schedule for Sidney is a home doubleheader against East Mills on Friday, January 10, while Hamburg will host Essex for their Winter Homecoming on Friday.
