Kimball police confirm missing man has been found safe
KIMBALL -- The Kimball Police Department has confirmed a Kimball man who was reported missing Thursday evening has been found safe. He was reported missing around 5:30 pm last night. There are no details on where he was found or his condition.
Forty-six-year-old Jayson Lee Jones is described as a 5-foot-10-inch, 180-pound man with brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a maroon Morgan Wallen T-shirt, blue jeans, a grey fleece coat with black speckling, a grey hat with an American flag and cowboy boots featuring an American flag design.
His last confirmed whereabouts were at his home Thursday morning at 7:30 a.m., according to Chief of Police Jose Ruiz. No one saw him leave his apartment, and his wallet and phone were left at his home. He also does not have a car that he would have been driving.
He was scheduled to meet up with a friend for breakfast at around 10 a.m., but he did not show up. He also did not show up for his shift at the Kimball County Transit Center, which he was scheduled for at 1 p.m.
Someone possibly sighted him at the Main Street Market around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, but the police are still working to confirm it with the manager of the store.
Ruiz said if they can confirm the sighting at the store, they have a starting point for tracking his whereabouts from there.
“That will get us a better time frame, see if he was with anybody, and if he got into a vehicle because all that is going to play into the investigation on what happened to him,” Ruiz said.
Ruiz urges anyone who has outdoor cameras to check them in case it shows him walking past because that will give authorities a better idea of where he was anytime during the day.
“He had no arguments with anyone before he left, everything seemed normal, so it is definitely strange circumstances,” Ruiz said. “We are still doing everything we can to locate him.”
If anyone sees Jones or has information about his whereabouts, contact their local law enforcement immediately.
Along with KPD, the Kimball County Sheriff’s Office, Kimball County Search team, Region 21, and Nebraska State Patrol were involved in the search for him Thursday.
