Ravenna teen dies in Christmas night crash
PLEASANTON, Neb. — Authorities in Central Nebraska are investigating a single-vehicle crash that claimed a teenager’s life on Christmas night.
The Buffalo County Sheriff’s office says it happened around 8:40 near the intersection of Grand Island Road and Cherry Road, which is about seven miles southeast of Pleasanton. According to a news release, a 17-year-old boy was driving a pickup when it left the road, rolled and struck a power pole. The crash ejected the 17-year-old from the truck and he died at the scene. Emergency personnel transported three passengers, each 15 years old, to local hospitals.
Authorities are still notifying families and haven’t released any names but did say that all four teenagers were from the Ravenna area.
The investigation is ongoing.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by members of the Kearney/Buffalo County Fatality Accident Investigation Team (FAIT), Pleasanton Volunteer Fire Department, Kearney Police Department, CHI Good Samaritan Hospital Paramedics, Buffalo County Highway Department, and the Buffalo County Attorney's Office.
