ALLIANCE -- Rebecca Ashing, 30, of Alliance, was sentenced to the Nebraska Department of Corrections on charges related to the premeditated attempt to kill her husband.

The Alliance Police Department announced today, December 19, that Ashing was found guilty of four charges. She was sentenced to 20 to 25 years for Attempted Murder, 5-10 years for Use of a Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony. These sentences will be served consecutively for a total of 25 to 35 years. She was also sentenced to two to four years for First Degree Domestic Assault, and one year for Second-Degree Domestic Assault; both sentences will run concurrently.

According to the Alliance Police Department Press Release, Ashing unsuccessfully attempted to murder her husband with a knife. He sustained life-threatening injuries, but survived the attack due to the response of the Alliance Fire Department and medical staff at Box Butte General Hospital. 

The incident occurred in 2023 in Alliance, according to Alliance Police Chief David Leavitt.
