Crofton overcomes halftime deficit in win over GACC
CROFTON - When Crofton and GACC meet, you can always expect a tight, defensive battle. Thing's weren't any different on Saturday afternoon in the Warriors 40-32 win over the Bluejays.
Crofton carried it's 4-0 record into the early Mid-State's conference contest, while GACC stood at 2-1.
In the last five years, the Warriors and Bluejays have played 10 times, with each team holding 5 wins. Crofton swept the series a year ago.
GACC came out firing early, knocking down a pair of triples to lead 6-0. The Warriors offense began to come to life, but the Bluejays maintained a 14-7 lead into the break.
The scoring began to slow down and turnovers began to pile up, along with a feisty display of defense on each side.
GACC led 22-16 at halftime.
Crofton started the third quarter strong, hitting a pair of three pointers, including a Seanna Pinkelman triple that gave the Warriors their first lead. They also began to force the Bluejays into turnovers.
Crofton led 32-28 heading into the fourth quarter where neither offense could capitalize on opportunities. Crofton made enough plays to survive a tough GACC team and move to 5-0 with the 40-32 win.
Jaisie Janssen led scoring for Crofton with 12 points and also tracked down 14 rebounds. Jaida Allen scored 10 for the Warriors as well.
GACC was led by Bailey Gerths with 8 points.
