Wilma F. (Bishop) Maschmeier
Wilma F. (Bishop) Maschmeier, 96 years of age, of Beatrice passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024 at Whispering Winds Cottage in Beatrice. She was born on Monday, July 23, 1928 in Wymore to John and Mabel (Winslow) Bishop and moved to Beatrice in the 2nd grade. Wilma graduated from Beatrice High School in 1945 and taught school for 3 years. She married George Maschmeier on April 19, 1947 at the First Christian Church in Beatrice and they celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary in 2018. Wilma worked in the engineering department at Norris Public Power for 36 years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beatrice where she was active in volunteering and the Beatrice Bowling Association where she served as past president and secretary. Wilma enjoyed bowling, traveling, cooking, casino trips and playing cards.
Wilma is survived by her children, Karen Seger and husband John; Tim Maschmeier and wife Susan, both of Beatrice; grandchildren, Cindy Swanzy of Beatrice, Troy Coudeyras and wife Laura of Appleton, Wisconsin, Joshua Maschmeier and wife Nicole of Omaha; 5 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; sister-in-law, Frances “Cookie” Maschmeier of Gering; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, George on November 17, 2018, daughter, Kay Lynn Maschmeier; brother, George Bishop; sister, Joan Houseman; sister-in-law, Lillie Mae Lillie and husband Ray; and brothers-in-law, Leo Maschmeier and Fredrick Maschmeier.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beatrice with Pastor Justin Dauck officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 AM Tuesday in the church basement. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 PM on Monday, November 18, 2024 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice in Beatrice in care of the mortuary.
