BEATRICE – A Beatrice man has been ordered to serve a 10-year state prison term on multiple charges.

41-year-old Christopher Haynes was sentenced Wednesday by Gage County District Judge, Rick Schreiner.  Haynes had been convicted on two counts of attempted burglary, two counts of theft, two charges of first-degree criminal trespass and two charges of criminal mischief.  Four of the charges were felonies.

The sentences also include three years of post-release supervision.

The attempted burglary convictions stemmed from incidents in November last year involving burglaries at the 420 Smoke Shop and Grateful Green…both in Beatrice.  Gummies and vape pens were among the items taken in the burglaries.

As part of a plea agreement, the Gage County Attorney’s office agreed not to pursue a Habitual Criminal Enhancement in the case….and two misdemeanor charges were dropped.  No restitution was sought.
