LINCOLN, Neb. - Nebraska came up just short of a major upset on Saturday falling to #4 Ohio State 21-17.

Head Coach Matt Rhule said postgame he felt a “championship mindset” in the Huskers locker room and is looking to channel that into this weekends home matchup with UCLA as the Huskers have another chance at becoming bowl eligible for the first time since 2016.

“It’s really hard to play with the confidence to understand that if I don’t make mistakes, I’ll win, but also play without making mistakes,” Rhule said. “You have to have this fearless part of you that puts you right up to the edge and you’re willing to put yourself at risk and be vulnerable to failure. That’s the only way to actually be successful.”

Nebraska’s offense struggled to get the screen game going on offense, even running two screens on the final drive. matt Rhule says that area of the offense has to improve.

“The screen game wasn’t good enough,” Rhule said. “To have two on the final drive, I get why [eople would be frustrated about that. I wish we could go back on those things, but the screen game hasn’t been terrible for us, but it wasn’t good enough in that game.”

Now Nebraska turns their attention to a continually improving UCLA squad, despite entering at 2-5. The Bruins enter off their first win in conference play, beating Rutgers 35-32 one week ago.

“Really an excellent, talented football team who’s playing a really really tough schedule so we’ll have our work cut out for us,” Rhule said. “We’ll try to make the improvements from Ohio State to UCLA that we made from Indiana to Ohio State.”

Saturday will be the first matchup between UCLA and the Huskers as members of the Big Ten.

Kick off is set for 2:30 p.m. CT on BTN.
