Big Ten issues statement on incorrect call in Nebraska-Ohio State

LINCOLN, NEB. - The Big Ten Conference issued a statement about an improper spot of the football in Nebraska's 21-17 loss to Ohio State on Saturday.
Towards the end of the first half, Nebraska’s Emmett Johnson appeared to have gained a first down but instead the ball was was placed a full yard short of the line to gain.
“During Nebraska’s final drive of the first half, on second down with two yards to gain on the Ohio State 39-yard line, the ball was incorrectly spotted after a run by Cornhuskers RB Emmett Johnson. The ball carrier crossed the 37-yard line and a first down should have been awarded to Nebraska. Replay should have stopped the game to review the spot since it involved the line-to-gain.” -Big Ten Chief Operating Officer Kerry Kenny.
Nebraska lost valuable time off the clock, but still managed to convert a 54-yard field goal to end the first half.
