Police, EMS respond to bicycle, pickup accident
BEATRICE – A girl riding her bike was struck by a vehicle Monday night in Beatrice and was airlifted by medical helicopter to a hospital.
Police Department Director Jay Murphy says the 13-year-old girl was riding her bike west on Arthur Street and apparently rode through a stop sign at 10th and Arthur, where she was struck by a northbound pickup.
Emergency personnel were sent to the scene of the accident at 8:17 p.m.
Murphy said the girl was initially unresponsive but was alert later when she was being transferred from the scene by ambulance.
A medical helicopter landed at Beatrice Municipal airport, taking the injured girl to a hospital shortly after nine p.m.
