BEATRICE – An exploding line of severe thunderstorms across southeast Nebraska Wednesday night was accompanied by a tornado warning, issued for Gage County.

The Gage County Emergency Manager reported sighting a funnel cloud about five miles west of Blue Springs, at 6:48 p.m. 

Emergency Manager Lisa Wiegand says there was no touchdown observed and no reports of significant damage have been received. Rainfall amounts reported across the southern part of Gage County ranged from 60-hundreths of an inch….to one-point-six inches.

Dime to quarter-sized hail was reported near Odell in the southwest part of the county, and at nearby Hanover, in northeast Kansas.  Quarter sized hail was also reported at Barnes and Linn, Kansas during Wednesday night’s storms. 

Farther to the south, a tornado was reported northeast of Olsburg, Kansas at about 7:25 p.m. and dissipated after about five minutes.
