Erna M. (Hay) Woodyard, 96 of Barneston and Wymore gained her wings on July 31, 2024 at the Good Samaritan Society in Beatrice. She was born on March 30, 1928 in Manhattan, Kansas to Otto and Rose (Wagner) Hay. She graduated from Riley County School District. She was united in marriage to David Woodyard on November 2, 1946. Erna was an active member of Barneston United Presbyterian Church until it closed. She then attended Mission Creek Church until moving into Wymore where she became a member of the Wymore Presbyterian Church. She served as an elder of the church and an active member of the circle. She enjoyed playing cards, embroidery, flowers, BINGO, coloring and word searches, going for ice cream, but most importantly, she loved her family.

Survivors include her children, Linda (Cookus) Norris, Pamela (Huntington) Menke, and Mike Woodyard; 11 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a host of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, John Woodyard; grandchildren, Cindy Cookus and Shane Huntington; great grandchildren, Wesley, Jake, and Chris.

A graveside service will be held at the Barneston Cemetery on Monday, August 5, 2024 at 10:30 AM. A visitation will be held at Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home in Wymore on Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM with the family greeting relatives and friends from 2:00 to 3:30 PM. A memorial has been established to the Wymore Presbyterian Church or the Barneston Volunteer Fire Department with the funeral home in charge.
