BEATRICE – Beatrice Police arrested three Hispanic males as suspects in an incident where a group of juveniles were being threatened by a man with a sword.

Police were called Friday night to the south parking lot of the Walmart Store, to a report of threats being made. One of five juveniles in a group said a man exited a white-colored vehicle, brandishing a sword, then chasing them into the store.  Two males said the man with the sword charged at them.

Later, just before nine p.m., police were sent to a north Beatrice convenience store where a man was threatening the same group of males with a sword….with one of the suspects threatening to return with guns.

A police officer later located a vehicle near 8th and Lincoln, and conducted a traffic stop on a white Ford Fusion.  After three Hispanic males exited the vehicle, police located a large sword inside the car.

Police also observed video surveillance from the Walmart Store which showed five victims running into the store, being chased by one man.  Another man could be seen near the entrance door with a sword, accompanied by another man.

Police arrested 20-year-old Manuel Esquivel, of Lincoln…on suspicion of making terroristic threats and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony.  20-year-old Mario Esquivel, of Beatrice and 22-year-old Cesar Balderrama, of Lincoln…..were both arrested for aiding and abetting terroristic threats.
