Richard R. "Dick" Timmerman

Richard Ruigh Timmerman, affectionately known as Dick, was born on November 24, 1938, in Lawrence, Kansas. He spent his formative years in Kansas, but his zest for life and generous spirit led him to reside in various places, including Kentucky and Arizona, before settling again in Beatrice, Nebraska. This spirited journeyman was a dedicated husband to his wife, Elizabeth, whom he married on April 5, 1997, and a talented father to his children and stepchildren.
Richard was a man of many passions. As an accomplished sales professional in the retail business, he was greatly appreciated for his dedication and generosity. After his retirement, he found joy in hobbies such as fishing, golfing, and gardening. He had a special knack for nurturing the small plot of garden he owned, making it bloom with life and color. His love for music was evident through his active participation in the Homestead Harmonizers and Phoenicians, Barbershop Harmony Society, and Sounds of the Spirit. His spirited involvement also extended to the Optimist club, Lions Club, Habitat for Humanity, and Feeding America. Richard was also a past President of his Homeowners Association.
His faith was a significant part of his life, as he was a valued member of the Christ Community Church and sang in the choir. Richard embodied the quote, "The best portion of a good man's life is in his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and of love" (William Wordsworth). He was always willing to lend a hand and provide support to those in need, especially his family.
What mattered most to Richard was his family and being involved in their activities. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Timmerman; his sons, Ryan (Missy) and Rick (Kris) Timmerman, and stepson Daniel (Bo) Miller. He was a proud grandfather to Grace, Megan, Becca (Brandon) Marks, Jessie, Addy, and Tucker; step grandchildren Jeffrey, Amanda, Gabriel Bader, Bodie (Alli), Conner (Michael), Taylor (Alex) Broening, and Brock Huston. He was a cherished great-grandfather to Maverick Marks. His siblings Dave (Karen) Timmerman, Jane (Harry) Krebs, Martha (Greg) Olds, and Mary (Donald) Leggat also survive him. He was preceded in death by his son, Russell Timmerman; his parents, Alvin and Lois (Ruigh) Timmerman; his sister, Donna Smiley; and his stepdaughter, Mindy Bader.
