JEFFERSON COUNTY, Neb. -- Rock Creek Station is hosting its first big event since a fire swept through the land a year ago.

Trail Days is one of the biggest events for the station, which celebrates the history of the park, which was on the Oregon Trail.

The event is scheduled for the weekend and will have activities at the park from Saturday morning until Sunday afternoon.

It will have historical reenactments and a buffalo stew cookout.

Megan Sothan, the Assistant Park Superintendent, said this long standing event is something that people look forward to every year.

“It’s something that a lot of people are excited to come back to year in and year out," Sothan said. "Just because it’s a fun way to teach folks about the history of the park. Get them out for the summer. Kick off that summer season after school gets out.”

The event is free but all vehicles at the park need a Nebraska Park Entry Permit which can be purchased at the park's visitors center.
