Larry Adam Bartels, 73 years of age, of DeWitt passed away at his home on Monday, May 27, 2024. He was born on January 24, 1951 in Fairbury, NE to Reinhold and Clara Bartels. Larry graduated from Tri-County in 1969. He married Ella Engel, whom he later divorced. Larry married Beth Weise on January 21, 1998. Larry was employed at Waldo Farms from 1963 until he retired in 2021. He enjoyed racing, fishing, gardening, tractor pulling, visiting local watering holes, and attending car shows where he showed off his 1930 Ford Model A which he named Bethee Butts. Larry especially enjoyed his dogs, and regularly participated in Red Cross Blood Drives.

Larry is survived by his children Shawn (Marcia) Bartels, and Eric (Michelle) Bartels, all of Plymouth, NE; step children Sheila (Jim) Decker, and Shawn (Gina) Weise; His beloved dog Shalla; 9 grandchildren Trevor (Jill) Kropp, McKenna (Sean) Bartels, Kasi (Ben) Lucia, Shelby (Sean) Decker, Paige Bartels, Jamie Bartels, Taiton Decker, Ethan Decker, and Talon Decker; 7 great grandchildren Zya & Luna Lucia, Austin Starlin, Hailey Lauenstein, Hayven, Cayden & Bailey Kropp; sisters Sharon Hansen and Velda (Dennis) Jensen; and nephew Henry Hansen; sisters in law Patty (Gordon) Bitting and Trudy (Denny) Spicer; and brothers in law John Willey, Robert Mick, and Monty Fralin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Beth Bartels; brother Kenneth Bartels; In Laws Elmo & Betty Willey; sisters in law Rebecca Mick, Janie Fralin; and mother-in-law Gerry Hansen.

Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:30 PM Monday, June 3, 2024 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice. The service will be Livestreamed on www.ghchapel.com. Burial will at the Oak Grove Cemetery in DeWitt, NE. There will be no viewing or visitation as cremation has taken place. A memorial has been established to the family’s choice for future designation with the funeral home in charge.
