BEATRICE – If you live in Beatrice…it’s almost time to get rid of that large piece of furniture you can’t stand to look at, anymore.

The annual three-day Clean City large item pick-up program takes place Monday through Wednesday.

It’s for residential properties only, with curbside pick-up by city street department and utility department crews.  They use dump trucks and loaders to haul off items, at no charge.  You can dispose of items such as furniture, large appliances, rolled carpet, push-style lawn mowers and empty trash barrels.

Old mattresses can be brought to the Beatrice landfill compost site, between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Citizens must register ahead of time and you can do that by going to the City of Beatrice website…but you must do so by five p.m., today (Friday).   There is a Clean City Registration Link near the bottom of the Clean City Event page.

The first day of collection on Monday will cover areas East of Sixth Street, south of Dorsey…north of Court Street and west of 19th.

Tuesday includes Hoyle’s Trailer Park and addresses west of Sixth.

On Wednesday, the final collection will be areas south of Court Street, east of Sixth and east of 19th.
