Fatal accident investigated near Princeton
BEATRICE – A Lincoln woman died of injuries suffered in an Easter weekend crash, near Princeton.
Lancaster County Sheriff’s investigators said the accident happened at the intersection of U.S. Highway 77 and Pella Road and was reported to law officers at around 6:30 a.m., Saturday.
32-year-old Megan E. Allen of Lincoln was driving a southbound 2017 Chevrolet Malibu that left the roadway and struck a concrete culvert in the west ditch of U.S. 77. The car rolled, went airborne and came to rest on its top.
Allen, who was alone in her vehicle, was flown by medical helicopter to Bryan Medical Center West where she died, shortly after arrival.
Airbags deployed in the car, but sheriff’s investigators said Allen was not wearing a safety restraint, at the time of the crash.
Medical personnel from Hallam, Cortland and Firth Rural Fire responded to the scene, about a mile south of Princeton. Law officers were still investigating the exact time of the accident, which happened in the early morning hours of Saturday.
